► How to save KCD as often as you like

Save as often as you want without using Savior Schnapps. This is very easy to do by editing a file in your game folder. Just follow the steps below and you'll be scum saving in minutes.

  • Navigate to the installation folder for Kingdom Come. On steam the path will be similar to do this: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance
  • Then open the Data folder
  • Using a program like winrar or winzip, open the file named GameData.pak
  • Within the archive, navigate to Libs/UI/UIActions
  • Using any text editor, open the file named MM_SaveGame.xml

Scroll down to line 67 and 70 and edit the following segment:
<Inputs SaveType="2" OverwriteSaveId="-1" UsePotion="1" />

Change the UsePotion="1" segment to UsePotion="0". Be sure to do this for both lines 67 and 70. If you're using a text editor that does not include line counts, then it's time to stop living in the past and get yourself a free copy of Notepad++. When you're done editing, save the file and then copy it back into the Archive.

This will remove the need to use a bottle of Savior Schnapps when saving. You will still need to have at least one bottle of SaviorSchnapps in your inventory in order for this to work, but it will not get used. To save, do not drink the potion, instead simply hit Escape and then choose the option to save your game.

Note 1: There are a limited number of saves you can have so you may need to go back and prune off some of the saved games by deleting them from time to time.
Note 2: Be sure to keep a backup of both your GameData.pak and MM_SaveGame.xml files before editing just in case you screw it up.

► How to get the targeting reticle with the bow
  • Hit the tilde key, that's the key with the ~ symbol.
  • Enter this one-line command: wh_pl_showfirecursor = 1

The console command above will only activate the reticle for your current play session. If you want the bow reticle to always be enabled then copy the following line into your user.cfg file:

wh_pl_showfirecursor=1

If you don't have a user.cfg file, you can just create an empty text file called user.cfg and then enter that line of code above. The user.cfg file needs to be saved into your primary KDC folder which will look something like this: D:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\KingdomComeDeliverance

Congratulations, now you're a modder.

► Easier Lock Picking

In KCD, lock picking is a royal pain. However, it is slightly tolerable when the sweet spot is touching a part of the lock mechanism because it's easier to track the sweet spot when rotating the lock. If you find that the sweet spot is not at a convenient spot that makes it easier to track it when rotating the lock, simply exit out of lockpick mode and then re-enter it, this will move the sweet spot to a new location, hopefully better.
